Holly (Ilex aquifolium) (Celynen in Welsh) is the most protective of all herbs. It guards against evil spirits, lightning and ill will from magical folk. Holly is carried for good luck and and for protection. It is traditionally festooned around the house at the midwinter to protect against spirits of the dark and the dangers of the season.

Ivy (Hedera helix) (Eiddew in Welsh) is the female equivalent of the Holly and is worn for good luck and for averting barrenness. Ivy guards against negativity and chaos. It is traditionally used in love charms and often with its "other half" of Holly.

Mistletoe (Viscum album) (Uchelwydd in Welsh) is the most magical of plants and has a long history of providing protection against lightning, disasters and fire.  The leaves and berries are used to protect infants in their cradles and to protect women working in moonlight. It is regarded  as the primary herb for working with the full moon and together with Holly and Ivy has been considered to be the representative of the three faces (and colours) of woman, the maid the mother and the old woman. Mistletoe is worn for aiding conception.

I gather most herbs and flowers locally and dry them on the farm. Care is taken to ensure that the herbs and flowers are at their strongest and most powerful when they are gathered. None are collected from areas close to a road. They are placed in this lovely miniature glass flask and added to a real silver chain so that you can carry them at all times.
