Cajeput - Melaleuca cajeputi
The leaves have a Camphoraceous medicinal odour like camphor, rosemary, or cardamom seeds. Cajeput is a milder note compared to Eucalyptus, a very aromatic odour.
The key use of Cajeput is to relieve stiff, aching joints caused by chronic rheumatism. Cajeput oil is traditionally mixed with Camphor oil as an external rub for arthritis and gout. Cajeput is antibacterial and clears congestion making it a good inhalant for colds and sinus infections. Used as a stimulating expectorant in chronic laryngitis and bronchitis. Useful as an antiseptic in cystisis and as an anthelmintic for roundworms. Cajeput is an astringent oil that can benefit oily skin and help clear eczema and psoriasis.
