Basil Essential Oil is used to improve breathing in bronchitis, colds, sinusitis, coughs and flu. It is an adrenal stimulant, but also calming – it helps regulate the endocrine system. It aids with mental fatigue, exhaustion and enervation. Can relieve flatulence and is considered useful in relieving the pressure of gout. Soothes insect bites and acts as an insect repellent. Relaxes muscle aches and rheumatism. Acts as an antiseptic, antispasmodic, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antidepressant. May stimulate hair growth.

Uses

Use in a vaporizer for migraines, headaches and to help increase concentration and clear the mind.

Use in a water-based diffuser to help mental and nervous exhaustion. Good for calming the mind and improving regularity and speed of breathing.

When adding basil oil to a warm bath, it can help relieve gout and arthritis, as well as muscular and menstrual pains.

Diluted to 1% or less in a carrier oil it helps to minimize uric acid in the blood, thus relieving gout. It is useful in arthritis and when used on the skin, it helps to control acne. In general it refreshes the skin and can also be used to relieve the irritation of insect bites
